Our school applies in its practice approaches which help all kids to develop their potential. The school programme called School For Everybody reflects these efforts.

In the field of specific educational focus, we do not have any particular education model, we are school for all.

We rely on humanistic pedagogical heritage of J. A. Komenský and other influential European schoolmen (the elements of Dalton teaching according to Dutch specialists R. Roehner and H. Wenke.

Moreover, we carefully follow all modern alternative tendencies which have been blending since 2000 and almost coincide in a single and very wide education trend respecting “ the click generation” (meaning our kids). They spend quite a lot of time with their computers and especially their mobile phones, therefore, their attention varies together with changed perceiving and behaviour. The impact of omnipresent digital environment is undoubtedly significant.

However, they bring to school a hidden curriculum containing diverse knowledge gained on the internet, social media or by travelling. One of the goals is to organize gradually and reasonably the knowledge into a wider logical system. Moreover, we would like to make them learn critical thinking in particular, basic communication and social skills with emphasis on the ethics (Learning skills for 21st century).

All our teachers are personalities enriching the school environment with their knowledge and individual approach. We like the plurality of approaches, for there are various types of pupils in our school. Every teacher can choose from the variety of methods and didactic methods. Every single pupil, class or situation are regarded with sympathy and understanding.

School can not be the only one in the process of educating and upbringing the kids. We rely on open communication with parents. If the pupil-teacher-parent triangle is functional, we always find common positive solutions, even in more complicated situations. In the long term, we are trying to be a friendly school and we prefer the face-to-face contact to the virtual one.

First second language the pupils come across is English. The second one is German. In the wide variety of after-school activities (www.chalabalova.cz/kroužky) we offer also Spanish.

Within the scope of long term projects and exchanges, we cooperate with schools and institutions in foreign countries (Bilbao, Bratislava, Donegal, Drammen, Leiden, San Sebastian, Sodupe, Ljubljana and Vienna).

We participate in several pedagogical and psychological researches organized by Faculty of Education and Faculty of Arts at MU in Brno. Moreover, we cooperate with universities in Prague, Bratislava, Pardubice and Leiden.

Our school is a member of Czech Dalton Organization and Dalton International network. It is one of the organizers of regular international education conferences under the auspices of Education Department (The Brno City Municipality). The school also profits from good relations with the local council and cooperates with other organizations in Kohoutovice.
